Air-Sea Battle and Space-Air Battle

In early 2010, the US began to develop its strategy of air-sea battle to deal with China’s military rise. Some analysts believe that China will lose such battle due to its much inferior navy.
While US military is satisfied with their invention of their new strategy, Chinese President put forth his space-air battle that is more than enough to counter US new strategy.
Previously there were report on China’s development of space weapons but China has always kept a low profile and refrained from much publication of its capacity.
Xi Jinping’s recent call on Chinese air force to step up their efforts in space-air battle reflects Chinese military’s new thinking and new strategy though no details have been given regarding what equipment or operation China will develop.
Chinese official media only says that on April 14, Xi Jinping made a special tour of investigation and study to the office of Chinese air force, watched their drill in giving directions to handle air battle situation, shook hands with the officers on duty and highly praised them.
He met officers above the level of deputy division commanders and made an important speech to them.
In his speech, he pointed out the overall great strategic importance and role of air force for China’s national security and stressed: Having a strong air force is a goal that the Party and people have made persistent efforts to attain and is also a part of the China dream to make China militarily strong.
In order to realize China dream, he called on them to speed up the development of a strong air force with integrated space and air strength capable of both attack and defense.
